Not a perfectionist.

Addisen has a very unhealthy relationship with "Dora". Whenever she gets a little ouchie she would rather watch Dora than be kissed, or cuddled. I have been feeling a little crafty lately, and thought she would like having a backpack of her own. Usually I try to stay clear of these types of projects because I am far from being a perfectionist, so they always end up looking sloppy. I think it comes from growing up with a perfectionist mom, and two perfectionist sisters. I would get annoyed at how long it took to make something if you had to do all the small time consuming steps. So I found that I just had to do a half A$$ed job and someone else would come take over and it would end up being more wonderful than if I had done it myself :) I was telling the lady at the fabric store that I was making a backpack, and didn't think Addie was paying attention at all. But then a few moments later she started singing the backpack song, and said "make backpack". She did the hand action for the word "make" from the "pop corn popping" song. We made it home with everything I thought I might need and more. I hate that sewing ends up being more expensive than if I had just bought the stupid backpack at the store. I couldn't find a pattern so I made one myself. At first I had a backpack with straps and all made of file folders and tape. I had Addie try it on, and I couldn't get her to take it off. I wish I had a picture. The rest of the night she was helping me cut material, and climbed on my back while I sewed, she was so excited, and kept telling daddy we were "making". I was going to save the finished backpack for her for Easter morning, but there was too much exploring that had to be done last night :) Unfortunately I couldn't find any white foamy stuff for the eyes, and it is going to drive me crazy....

  5. Why is it that you're going to go crazy over it not having white bubble eyes?

Could it be that you too are a perfectionist...just in denial?

You know I'm right. The backpack is adorable! You did an awesome job! And making it from nothing but your own pattern...that's pretty darn impressive!
