terrable twos

Last night, as I was doing dishes, Addie clung to my pants and begged "up up up up." I told her just a minute because I wanted to finish. She threw herself to the ground and started pounding her head on the kitchen floor. Earlier in the day I set her in her play crib. She yelled and flung herself backwards into the netting. She doesn't do this very often, and when she does I try to ignore it. I want her to learn that she doesn't get her way when she throws a fit. Still, it is so hard to see her hurting herself. Any suggestions? Who knew that the terrible twos starts at 1 :)

  1. I would bang my head on the floor too when I was little. I only did it once on the kitchen floor, and then I was done for forever. Good luck!

  2. k, like i know anything since i've never had kids, but...

my sister-in-law (michele steed) who you are friends with on facebook knows all the best baby/toddler books which have tons of good ideas on how to handle situations like that! i'm sure she's read all of her books and has experienced the same things with her two year old! you should ask her what works for her or even what books she would recommend!

  3. my suggestion is to get soft floor mats and wait her out- just kidding- who knows- it scares me to hear and see all of the things that kids do after they come out- this one already has a problem with hitting- we are in for it.

  4. Yeah, Isaak does the same thing, only occassionally, but still. I just ignore it. Eventually he will learn that it's not worth the tantrum because he doesn't get what he wants.
